Another year, another amazing Karnival celebration with my favorite people in Koln and Dusseldorf!

Carnival, also known as Karneval or Fasching, is a time of celebration and revelry that takes place in many parts of the world, including Cologne, Germany. This city is well known for its lively carnival celebrations, which draw large crowds each year and are an exciting way to experience German culture.

Cologne’s Carnival celebrations start on the November 11th and continue until Ash Wednesday on February 22nd. This festival is a time for locals and visitors alike to don costumes, dance, sing, and have a good time. For the first (11.11) and last (2.22) days of Carnival season, the streets of Cologne are filled with colorful parades, music, and food, making for a truly unique experience.

One of the main attractions of Cologne’s carnival is its street parades. These parades feature a variety of floats, costumes, and live music, and are a must-see for anyone visiting the city during the carnival season. The parades are open to the public, so anyone can join in the fun and dance along the streets.

Another popular aspect of the carnival in Cologne is the costumes. People from all walks of life come together to dress up in elaborate costumes, from traditional folk costumes to more modern and creative outfits. Whether you’re a local or a visitor, it’s always a good idea to get into the spirit of the carnival and dress up in a costume of your own. This year we all decided to dress up as various forms of the iconic Barbie costume. Wehad Malibu Barbie, Ski Barbie, Baywatch Barbie, Ken and even more.

Food and drink also play a big role in the carnival celebrations in Cologne. The city is famous for its local cuisine, and during the carnival, there are plenty of street vendors selling traditional German dishes such as bratwurst, sauerkraut, and pretzels. There are also many bars and restaurants that serve traditional carnival drinks, including Glühwein (mulled wine) and Kölsch (a local beer).

In conclusion, the carnival in Cologne, Germany is a unique and exciting experience that should not be missed. Whether you’re a local or a visitor, this festival offers a chance to experience German culture and have a great time with friends and family. So, if you have the opportunity, be sure to celebrate carnival in Cologne and immerse yourself in the colorful and lively atmosphere of this exciting festival.
