Frankfurt is a city that has a lot to offer, from beautiful architecture to delicious food markets, and exploring it all by bike is the perfect way to take it all in. I recently had the chance to visit Frankfurt and spent my days pedaling through the city, taking in all the main sights and indulging in the local culinary delights. My first stop was the Altstadt, which is a must-see for any visitor to Frankfurt.
If you’re a fan of history and architecture, you won’t want to miss a visit to the newly renovated Old Town in Frankfurt. This charming district, also known as the Altstadt, was destroyed during World War II and rebuilt in recent years to recreate its historic charm. The Old Town is now a pedestrian-only zone, making it the perfect place to explore on foot or by bike. You’ll be transported back in time as you wander the narrow streets lined with half-timbered houses, cafes, and boutique shops. One of the highlights of the Old Town is the reconstructed Imperial Cathedral, also known as the Kaiserdom. The cathedral dates back to the 13th century and was meticulously rebuilt to its former glory. It’s a stunning example of Gothic architecture and an iconic landmark in Frankfurt. From there, I biked along the Main River, which offers some of the most beautiful views of the city. I made sure to stop at the famous Frankfurt Food Market, which is a paradise for food lovers. The market was packed with stalls selling everything from sausages to sweets, and I couldn’t resist trying a little bit of everything. The atmosphere was bustling and exciting, with vendors calling out to passersby and customers chatting and laughing together. One of the highlights of my trip was a visit to the Frankfurt Cathedral. The impressive structure dates back to the 14th century and is a must-see for anyone interested in history and architecture. The inside of the cathedral is just as beautiful as the outside, with stunning stained-glass windows and intricate details throughout.
