Budapest: The sequel to the prequel

I had so much fun in Budapest during my first trip that I decided to go back again! Check out my first trip to Budapest during the summer here.

If you’ve read my recap from my first trip to Budapest you’re well aware that I love Las Vegan’s. If you haven’t read that post yet, well, welcome to the Las Vegan’s fan club. The first thing I did when I got to Budapest again was go straight to Las Vegan’s. I missed it so much! Here is an ode to their burgers. All of which I have had… multiple times.

This time in Budapest I stayed at a much more chill hostel called Hostel One Budapest. It had a nice family feel because everyone hung out in the lobby and we all had a group dinner each night. I stayed in a co-ed dorm while I was at the hostel, but I got assigned to a room with 4 other really cool girls. We all hung out together the entire time we were in Budapest and having a crew of new friends made the experience even better.

I got coffee and croissants every morning and almost every afternoon. I love eating pastries from cafes in Europe, something about it just feels way more special than getting a croissant and coffee in NYC. I also loved getting coffee or hot wine to go and walking around Budapest.

My new friends and I walked all over Budapest and it was so cool seeing the city in Winter verses Summer.

I also got to reunite with friends that I made during my first trip to Budapest. I love how small the world can feel sometimes.

We went to Vörösmarty tér, which is the largest Christmas Markets in Budapest, and we went to the market surrounding St. Stephen’s Basilica. After being disappointed by Stockholm’s tiny Christmas markets, I was in love with the sprawling stalls in Budapest. We bopped around between the two markets for hours and I stuffed my face on all the food I could find.

I was so excited by the Christmas markets that I went a little crazy and ended up buying everyone’s Christmas present from Budapest this year.

Saying goodbye to new friends is always hard, but I’m delighted to report that I am still good friends with everyone I met at Hostel One. Marion and I were the final two left in Budapest on our last day, so we went to a café for waffles, tea and goodbye notes.
