Ensuring your adventures are always ahead of the curve

BMW: BERLIN MEMORIES WEEKLY 30

This week started out stressful and busy, but ended beautifully with an Easter vacation in the South of France. I have so many pictures and stories from my trip to Lyon and Geneva that it’s taken me awhile to look through them all and get them up onto the blog, but here they are! I’m so happy to be out and seeing the world again!

all work and no play makes jaDE a dull GIRL

My work schedule has been crazy crazy crazy this entire month. It’s been a lot, but I have my sights set on all of my summer plans and weekend trips coming up. I have been really busy at the office andI haven’t had time for German, the gym or even writing on this blog. I think it’s really easy for people, including myself, to get swept up into the work – sleep – work – sleep – work – sleep schedule, but it’s easier to break the cycle when you first acknowledge it. So this is me doing that! I am now going to make a conscious effort in doing things outside of work and getting back to my normal life!

CHEFFIN IT UP

One thing that I love to do as a break during the busy day is cook. It’s also great that my roommate loves food just as much as I do. This week our grand finale in food was a chain of tuna sandwiches that we made at 10pm because… well, because why not.

FINALLY BACK ON THE ROAD

And of course, my favorite thing to do after a busy week is to get on a plane or train and get the hell out of wherever I am. There’s too much to see in too little of time and that’s why I am excited that starting this week I am back to my regularly scheduled and packed calendar of trips all around Europe. To kick off my new season of trips I went to Geneva in Switzerland and then to visit Alli in Lyon for Easter!

GENEVA

Early morning flights don’t count if there is chocolate, so I kicked off my Easter weekend with an AM flight to Geneva and it was delightful. I landed in Switzerland at 8am on Friday and started off strong with 2 pieces of chocolate and a bottle of sparkling water for breakfast. I checked my green Baboon to the moon bag into locker storage and set off on foot with the handy hand me down black fanny pack, curtesy of Alice. After landing I checked out the Brunswick monument, the Pont du Mont-Blanc, the Monument National, Place du Bourg-de-Four, the Tavel House, a ton of water fountains, a carnival, lots of parks and a ton of flowers. It was gorgeous and I think I love Switzerland because I have unexpectedly spent most of 2022 in the country.

LYON

Wow, Lyon was lovely and I had such a great time catching up with Alli and seeing her new home. As expected, her place is decorated perfectly, and the location is amazing. I feel so lucky that I am able to pop over to Lyon and see an old friend, especially on holiday weekends. We spent the long weekend exploring Lyon and taking a private guided tour of the city. I had a ton of fun exploring the hidden alleys with Alli and I can’t wait to go back to the south of France.

EASTER SUNDAY

Easter Sunday brunch with Alli and her friend in Lyon. The brunch was adorable, but the funniest part is that French easter is actually very different than American easter. To start, the French don’t have an Easter bunny. The thing that drops the eggs into everyone’s yards is a bell. That’s right, a ding dong bell. That’s right, so you won’t be finding any chocolate bunnies in the French bakeries. To make it even better, the animal you will find is a fish. This is because on April 1st (April fools) kids put fish in each others bags and pockets as a prank. Therefore fish is another key sign of Spring and Easter in France. So, imagine my surprise when I walked into the bakery and there were only chocolate fish and bells… not a bunny in sight.

After our delicious Easter brunch we went on a long hike through Ecully with two twin Shiba Inus. Another fun fact that I learned this weekend. Shibu Inu’s are the closet dog breed to wolfs!
